“People get the history they deserve.” –Charles De Gaull
A Little History. I’m Erin. I’m 30. I am a freelance journalist, photographer and commercial writer based out of Oregon’s beautiful North Coast.
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but I have also called France, Mexico and South Korea home. In May of 2009, I earned my graduate degree in international journalism and magazine writing from the University of Missouri. My thesis examined ideology in Cuba’s state-run media system through the frameworks of rhetorical and deconstructive criticism. (Click here to see an abstract, or the full text.)
I spent most of my 20s traveling the world, the bulk of that time logged in Asia, Central America and Europe. (I’ve hit up 31 countries so far and can’t wait to see the other 155 or so!) These days, though, I like to think of myself as a reformed dharma bum. A few of my longer-term goals: get together a manuscript of personal essays for publication, do loads more traveling, and pursue a PhD in rhetoric.
I’m always interested in meeting like minds, but I find that 99.9 percent of visitors to my site don’t comment. Please… Drop me a line!

Erin J. Bernard is one of the most awesome people you will ever meet in the entire world!! And you just may randomly happen upon her in another country as she is off exploring on a new adventure! Erin has some of the best travel stories around and, luckily for us, has the writing skills to transport us back to those experiences in her shoes.
I’ve traveled to Paris, France; Cozumel and Tulum, Mexico; and Madrid and Oviedo, Spain with Erin over the last 12 years. She is a great travel buddy and pen pal, but I’m happy to have her back in good, old P-Town, OR for more hometown happiness!
I LOVE YOU, SUGAR!!
